This is the highest player count since the release of 2024's The Final Shape, the last paid expansion, which peaked at 314,000 players.

Some players have reported difficulties logging into Destiny 2 due to the sudden influx. Ahead of the update, fans aimed to surpass Marathon's all-time peak and crash Destiny 2's servers to show...

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton Announced as Surprising Crossover from Vampire Survivors Studio

a78a81ee.png

Poncle, the developer behind Vampire Survivors, is merging its casual shoot-'em-up gameplay with one of the most beloved anime franchises for a new title called Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton.

The unexpected collaboration debuted during today's Nintendo Direct. Following the original Vampire Survivors and this year's Vampire Crawlers, Poncle is enlisting Yuji Itadori to battle an endless horde of cursed spirits.

The first trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton will look very familiar to fans of the studio's previous work. Instead of classic ghouls and ghosts, it gets a Jujutsu Kaisen makeover while keeping the pixelated style and addictive one-more-run gameplay that made Vampire Survivors a hit. It's a...

ArenaNet Boss Says MMOs Have 'Stagnated' and Guild Wars 3 Will Bring Something Truly New to the Genre

c96079d2.png

Guild Wars 3 developer ArenaNet believes its upcoming MMO will offer something genuinely new in a genre it says has become “stagnated.”

One of the biggest announcements at Summer Game Fest 2026 was Guild Wars 3, the sequel to the hugely popular Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. Speaking to IGN at IGN Live, ArenaNet studio head Colin Johanson said Guild Wars 3 will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors by going against the grain in the MMO space.

Guild Wars 1 launched in 2005 and was notable for having no subscription fee at a time when most MMOs required one. Guild Wars 2 followed in 2012 with a unique approach to content called “horizontal progression.” Now, Johanson said, Guild Wars 3 will once again offer...

Shift Up CEO Explains Design of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain's New Main Character

564d5f87.png

The boss of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain developer Shift Up has discussed the design of new main character Evie, highlighting the differences between her and the protagonist of the first game, Eve.

Shift Up announced Stellar Blade: Blood Rain at Summer Game Fest last week with an eye-catching trailer that revealed Evie, a brand new main character who prefers to punch her way through enemies than take the slice and dice approach favored by her predecessor.

The biggest talking point coming out of the trailer reveal was the design of Evie herself, with some expressing concern about her seemingly child-like face in the context of her more adult-sounding voice acting and body design.

In an interview with IGN following the...

IGN Chats with Marvel Games on the Timeless Charm of '90s-Style Beat 'Em Ups

f1768959.png

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a smash hit. With 1.5 million players, Tribute Games' '90s-inspired beat 'em up follows in the successful footsteps of its nostalgia-driven predecessor, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. Both games are go-to pick-up-and-plays in my home, where my eight-year-old son and I often grab Xbox controllers and fire up the Xbox Series S for quick sessions. Local co-op is a blast—I get a nostalgic rush as someone who grew up playing beat 'em ups in arcades with friends, while my son enjoys a similar experience with me at home. As for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, he has plenty of questions, like: What is Beta Ray Bill, and why does he have Thor's axe?

Marvel Cosmic Invasion is no accident...

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Lets Players Shape the Story, But Trilogy Will Have a 'Singular Ending' for All

6fa78faa.png

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the remake trilogy's finale will feature a single ending for all players, but fans will have plenty of freedom to shape Cloud's final chapter. In a conversation with GamesRadar+, Hamaguchi discussed Square Enix's approach to player choice in the recently announced game. Like Remake and Rebirth before it, Revelation will present Cloud with choices that affect the world around him. Hamaguchi explained that as Square Enix aimed to emphasize the theme of "resolve," the team wanted each fan to have a unique experience leading to the final battle. "We didn't want to just deliver a singular storytelling experience for every player," he said via translator....

Halo: Campaign Evolved Collector's Edition Brings Back a Relic of Gaming's Past

2399ef01.png

Halo: Campaign Evolved isn't just a remake of a 25-year-old game—it's a revival of the era it came from. Yesterday, Microsoft confirmed that the campaign-only remake of the original Halo will finally launch in late July, and it's doing so in style. The company is releasing two special editions: a standard digital-only version with in-game extras, and a pricey physical collector's edition that celebrates Halo in a big way. This collector's edition includes in-game items, a 12-inch Master Chief statue, a steelbook case, and art prints. But the standout item is a "reimagined" version of the original game's manual.

Video game manuals have been largely obsolete for over a decade. The last time games came with detailed...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 Ports Leak for PS4 and PS5

536da9d5.png

It appears that Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 may be heading to modern platforms. According to PlayStation Game Size, an account that tracks PlayStation's backend for updates, new listings for PS4 and PS5 versions of both games have mysteriously appeared on Sony's servers. The account shared images of the game icons, which feature the original logos.

These listings follow a recent post by a South Korean ratings board that listed both Black Ops titles. Fans have been puzzled whether this was a mistake or a sign of something in development. Speculation is now mounting that these games could be shadow-dropped during tomorrow's Nintendo Direct.

Modern Warfare 4 is slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2 later this year,...

Official Halo: Campaign Evolved Cinematic Story Trailer Marked 'Captured on PS5 Pro' — What's the Deal?

66ed85dc.png

Microsoft has released a new cinematic story trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved, but it's oddly labeled as having been captured on a PS5 Pro. The eye-catching footage is available below, and it clearly shows the game's PlayStation version from the start. Why would Microsoft do this? Sure, the PS5 Pro is the most powerful console hardware currently available, but it's not a great look for Xbox to showcase its flagship franchise running on Sony's machine. If Microsoft wanted to show the game at its best, why not capture it on a high-end PC?

Discussing the trailer on social media, The Verge's Tom Warren hinted that the clip "would have made more sense if it was originally supposed to be part of Sony's State of Play" — a...

Only 2 Games Dare to Face GTA 6 This November

8d3dde07.png

The gaming industry is terrified of GTA 6. That's clear from the packed September lineup. But two games are bravely going head-to-head with Rockstar's upcoming epic—and they're an unlikely pair of allies.

Atari seems to have decided it's better to confront GTA 6 directly than avoid it, announcing two November releases. First up is Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, launching November 3 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. While rumors swirl that GTA 6 could cost up to $100, Godzilla undercuts Take-Two's ambitious pricing with a $29.99 tag. Take that, GTA 6!

As if that weren't enough, a new Barbie game is set to release on November 12, just a week...

Another Xbox Showcase, No Elder Scrolls VI: Fans Feel the Weight of Time

cf85055e.png

The Xbox Games Showcase has come and gone, and once again, The Elder Scrolls VI was nowhere to be seen. Yes, Bethesda's Todd Howard occasionally reassures fans that development is ongoing, but the hard truth is that the game was announced eight years ago on June 10, 2018, with a teaser trailer, and we haven't seen anything since. The wait between the announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI and now is actually longer than the gap between Skyrim's release and the sequel's announcement. We don't even know the game's official title or its setting in the fantasy world. GTA 6 fans complaining about a lack of info don't know how lucky they are!

As expected, Elder Scrolls fans expressed disappointment after last week's Xbox...

Ninja Theory Cancels Experimental Horror Game Project Mara

b53b67b4.png

Ninja Theory has officially cancelled Project Mara, its experimental horror game, as confirmed by studio head Dom Matthews. The decision comes alongside the surprise announcement of Senua, the third game in the Hellblade series, at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. In a blog post discussing Senua, Matthews explained that the entire studio—all 85 creatives—is now focused on developing Senua, marking the first time since 2013's DmC: Devil May Cry that the full team has worked on a single project. This shift allows for a more expansive, gameplay-driven Hellblade experience but required sacrificing Project Mara.

Project Mara was first revealed in January 2020, during a period when Ninja Theory was also developing Hellblade...

Will 007 First Light Get a Sequel? Amazon Games Boss Responds

3d03da5c.png

IO Interactive's 007 First Light has impressed critics and sold 3 million copies in its first two weeks. However, confusion about the series' future arose after comments from Amazon's Head of Gaming, Jeff Gattis, who suggested sequels would be handled by MGM and, theoretically, Amazon Game Studios. To clear things up, IGN spoke with Gattis at Summer Game Fest.

"First of all, let me set the record straight," Gattis said. "I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that. IO's been great partners. The game's doing great. Let's let the game breathe."

Fans worried about IO's ability to continue the Bond origin story. Gattis reassured: "Trust that we're going to be smart about this....
